R E A L W E D D I N G || A CHRISTMAS AFFAIR

 We couldn't contain our excitement when Elizabeth + Hughes came into our Big Events office asking for planning help on their [12.17.16] Christmas wedding in Nashville! After the first meeting, we gathered that beautiful flowers, food, wine and good music were the wedding planning "must-haves."

We also gathered that these two laid-back love birds would be a J O Y  to work with...and they absolutely were.

First...Elizabeth's flowers...SWOON.

She chose such a BEAUTIFUL color pallete for a winter wedding, Martha was in heaven when she saw these ruby peonies open up in our floral showroom.  The bouquets were perfectly paired with the gemstone bridesmaid dresses from Amsale.

After they said "I DO" at First Presbyterian in Nashville, the Tipton's headed to their reception at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts .  Guests enjoyed delicious appetizers from Kristen Winston + cocktails in celebration of the recently wed.  Their AMAZING caramel fudge cake was a focal point during cocktail hour + created by the fabulous Leland Riggan of Dessert Designs, she really outdid herself on this one and we loved mixing up the traditional white wedding cake.

After cocktail hour, guests moved into the Auditorium for their seated dinner + special dances.  The entire room design was basically based on the beautiful flowers.  We picked very neutral [white + light grey] linens from BBJ Linens + Gold [art deco] chairs from Classic Party Rental to really allow the flowers to pop on the tables!

The overall design goal was for the room to feel very intimate and romantic for E + H.  So we added a ton of candle lighting + installed a greenery wreath to an already beautiful fixture, brought in by Bright Event Productions.  We also wanted to incorporate small details that packed a punch: like these FABULOUS monogram linens on the wedding party tables that were a beautiful gift to the bride + groom the week of the wedding!

The dinner by Kristen Winston was AMAZING, who doesn't enjoy a perfectly cooked filet on a cold winter day?

After dinner the two danced the night away with their guests to music by Number One Party Band while banana pudding + wedding cake was served to those with a sweet tooth.

The night was truly perfect + we were so thrilled to help create their dream day...none of us wanted to leave but when the time came

SANTA arrived to walk the Tiptons down for their "grand exit"...WHAT a wedding day!

A special thank you to Rachel Moore for beautifully capturing their day.

   Lots of love to the Tiptons!

CARRIE SPITZ + DAVE PURSER || OCTOBER 22, 2016

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery

The Spitz family is one we had gotten to know well while planning Carrie’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so we were thrilled when Carrie got engaged and asked us to help plan and design her wedding day too.

Carrie and Dave met in 2009 when they lived on different floors of a duplex in the 12 South area of Nashville. They reconnected three years later when Carrie spotted Dave at Steeplechase and forced him to put on sunscreen (those gentle gingers have to protect their sensitive skin!). It took several more months to finally go on their first date, but all was official by the end of that year.

Dave proposed two years later and our phone rang to kick off the planning process.

Several months prior to that phone call – a new venue opened its doors in Nashville and we’d been there for the open house. The moment we stepped in to the Barrel Room at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery we knew it was the perfect spot for a super-cool ceremony and couldn’t believe our luck when Carrie + Dave came along. It is a rare couple whose ideal wedding is surrounded by stacks of whiskey barrels and the delicious scent of mash in the air, but we found them in this pair!! It suited them so perfectly.

Obviously unconventional, Carrie wanted a unique mix of linens, interesting textures, quirky details and bold, rich Fall florals for the ceremony and reception. Um, finally!!!

Latavola Linens

While blush and ivory is always a classic and very popular palette choice, those colors don’t necessarily reflect the personality of the bride.

Carrie + Dave weren’t afraid to make their wedding day very them.

Their moms were escorted down the aisle to “You Are My Sunshine,” played so sweetly by one of our favorite people (in the world!), Sam Levine, and his quartet of talented musicians.The ceremony was genuine and intimate, and very personal since Carrie’s brother-in-law officiated.

The ceremony was genuine and intimate, and very personal since Carrie’s brother-in-law officiated. And, as the newly-wed couple recessed down the aisle (to an acoustic version of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”!!), guests surprised the duo by waving little “YAY!” flags and cheering.

Clean Plate Club

Clean Plate Club prepared the most delicious meal – everyone raved that the mac-n-cheese was the best they’d ever had. The Green Brier’s tasting room proved a popular spot for many if they needed a break from the dance floor where the band 12 South (how apropos!) provided some serious non-stop entertainment, costume changes and all.

Late-night snacks of Shipley’s donut holes and boozy whiskey-spiked cider were passed to re-invigorate the crowd. The night ended with a crazy fun medley of songs and everyone sending the couple off in Matchless Limo’s Seafoam Bentley.

NEW YEAR || NEW TRENDS

Before every new year the "Pantone Color" is always revealed.  According to www.pantone.com the new color of 2017 is "G R E E N E R Y ".

We are all pretty excited about incorporating greenery more into our designs.  Greenery offers a lush look for a little less, it fills up the room with fresh aroma (especially Eucalyptus) and if your venue is indoors, it allows bringing the outside in!

However, greenery is not the only TREND we are seeing for 2017! Take a look at our list below

1.  BRING ON THE COLOR || bright colors + statement florals are being requested more than ever. WE LOVE THIS TREND!! Bring it on brides - never be afraid to use color.

2.  ARBORS + STATEMENT CEREMONY FLOWERS || instead of a traditional church setting, brides are now thinking more outside the box and choosing an interesting location then dressing it up by creating a focal point to get married under.  We are ALWAYS on board for a unique event.

3.  NEUTRAL BRIDESMAID PALLETES || brides- let your flowers be the attention grabbers, stick to a neutral dress for your besties to be in.  Plus- it really allows for some AMAZING photos.

4.  FOOD || now more than ever people care about what their guests are eating.  Tailor your menu to something personal to create that extra unique touch, this is YOUR day after all.

5.  MIXED METALS ||  the old ways of gold + silver "don't mix" is OUT.  Mixing metals is a request we love, it adds more elements to your design.

6.  SEATED DINNERS || the formal dining experience is here to stay.  This year more than ever people are going back to the full formal dinner party before dancing occurs.

7.  GREENERY || as discussed above, greenery is here and its BEAUTIFUL. Don't be afraid to mix it with other hues.  Tip: white ALWAYS compliments the pantone perfectly.

2016 Fall Trends || what we are seeing (and loving)

T h a n k f u l l y   September is finally here [and hopefully] soon enough this Nashville weather will start to cool down.  We are all preparing for a busy + beautiful fall wedding season and LOVING this years trends, we thought we would share what we are seeing!

1.  GREENERY: everyone is L O V I N G this right now.  It's a simple + organic way to spruce up a space without having the price tag of peonies.  Check out this greenery galore reception for inspiration!

2.  DEEP GEM TONES: we are making a major shift from blush + gold to deep gem tones and we are not the only one saying Y A Y about this! It was time to mix up the color boards before we all fell asleep.

3.  FOODIES: Not that surprising since Nashville is one of the hottest growing "foodie scenes" in the country but we are seeing more and more picky palate's this year! Hey, we are in the South after all- LET'S EAT.

4.  MIXED DESIGN STYLES: Whatever your current decor style is- We are seeing more open minds about mixing design elements! It really allows a cozy space --check out great party rentals here

 5.  VELVET: people love to feel soft textures while they are enjoying a good party! This is a major trend in the fashion world right now so we are not alone in seeing this.

6.  TEXTURES: Instead of using a classic charger go for stone or natural elements to dress up your tablescape! Check out this stone slab for sale here

7.  INTIMATE AFFAIRS: Instead of the 300+ guest lists we have seen once before, people are opting out and choosing more intimate numbers.  PRO: It helps your overall budget + creates a very personalized event!

...FALL 2016, WE LOVE YOU ALREADY!--

winter wedding||i n s p i r a t i o n

Don't be afraid of the winter months- if you choose a venue that is completely indoors, you should have absolutely NO fears.  E M B R A C E  it!

Perks to January+February bookings:

1.  Some venues will discount you because its not "high season"

2.  You can choose a beautiful picturesque theme (inspiration below)

3.  You have gotten through the holiday madness- January worldwide is relatively low key...low key is good.

4.  cheaper travels for your wedding party + guests.  travel prices are generally down due to the holiday influx!

5.  New year = New husband.  Talk about a New Year's fresh start!

Go for it "brides to be"- don't disregard January+February!

2016 TREND || COPPER

We are 11 days into the 2016 new year - as we are planning for future events for the year we are noticing one trend sneaking into event decor ...C O P P E R!

I can honestly say this is an exciting trend- it's time to shake up the "all gold everything" look with a beautiful hue.  It pairs perfectly with greenery + clean, crisp neutrals that will stand the test of time!

So, brides: we approve...we are all about copper!
