CARRIE SPITZ + DAVE PURSER || OCTOBER 22, 2016

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery

The Spitz family is one we had gotten to know well while planning Carrie’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so we were thrilled when Carrie got engaged and asked us to help plan and design her wedding day too.

Carrie and Dave met in 2009 when they lived on different floors of a duplex in the 12 South area of Nashville. They reconnected three years later when Carrie spotted Dave at Steeplechase and forced him to put on sunscreen (those gentle gingers have to protect their sensitive skin!). It took several more months to finally go on their first date, but all was official by the end of that year.

Dave proposed two years later and our phone rang to kick off the planning process.

Several months prior to that phone call – a new venue opened its doors in Nashville and we’d been there for the open house. The moment we stepped in to the Barrel Room at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery we knew it was the perfect spot for a super-cool ceremony and couldn’t believe our luck when Carrie + Dave came along. It is a rare couple whose ideal wedding is surrounded by stacks of whiskey barrels and the delicious scent of mash in the air, but we found them in this pair!! It suited them so perfectly.

Obviously unconventional, Carrie wanted a unique mix of linens, interesting textures, quirky details and bold, rich Fall florals for the ceremony and reception. Um, finally!!!

Latavola Linens

While blush and ivory is always a classic and very popular palette choice, those colors don’t necessarily reflect the personality of the bride.

Carrie + Dave weren’t afraid to make their wedding day very them.

Their moms were escorted down the aisle to “You Are My Sunshine,” played so sweetly by one of our favorite people (in the world!), Sam Levine, and his quartet of talented musicians.The ceremony was genuine and intimate, and very personal since Carrie’s brother-in-law officiated.

The ceremony was genuine and intimate, and very personal since Carrie’s brother-in-law officiated. And, as the newly-wed couple recessed down the aisle (to an acoustic version of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”!!), guests surprised the duo by waving little “YAY!” flags and cheering.

Clean Plate Club

Clean Plate Club prepared the most delicious meal – everyone raved that the mac-n-cheese was the best they’d ever had. The Green Brier’s tasting room proved a popular spot for many if they needed a break from the dance floor where the band 12 South (how apropos!) provided some serious non-stop entertainment, costume changes and all.

Late-night snacks of Shipley’s donut holes and boozy whiskey-spiked cider were passed to re-invigorate the crowd. The night ended with a crazy fun medley of songs and everyone sending the couple off in Matchless Limo’s Seafoam Bentley.
